Snippets from Guangzhou

Pictures from my latest Guangzhou trip. I actually like to travel there when the weather is cooler. But I travel there mainly for work, so not much of a choice. This time we stayed along the Pearl Bank River, which flashes colors of the rainbow at night. The Pearl Bank River looks dull and inspired by day though.

One of my favorite places to visit whenever I am in Guangzhou, would be Jusco, the Japanese supermarket. It gets awfully crowded in the evenings and during weekends.

Lychee and peaches!

In recent visits, we have always returned to this eating placed called 百回味茶餐厅, usually for tea breaks. The prices at this eatery isn't exactly cheap, it's along the lines of Singapore food court prices, which in Guangzhou, is not exactly cheap. The cost of living in Guangzhou has risen considerably in recent years. From 2.30pm to 5pm, they have tea time specials. I usually order the french toast and iced milk tea set, which costs RMB22, which is slightly over SGD4. My brother usually orders the Macau Pork Bun, which costs the same. How can a french toast and a pork bun be priced the same, I don't know haha. Another reason why I like to come here is for the free WIFI. Free WIFI is always good whenever one is abroad!

Another place where I usually go to eat is Cafe de Coral. They don't have the most fantastic food, prices aren't really cheap as well, but then again, they have free WIFI. Sometimes, I just go there to escape the heat and utilize the free WIFI! The outlet at Haizhu Square is on the 2nd level and has full glass windows, so sometimes I like to go there and just sit by the window and watch the world go by.

They recently added a new mango pomelo drink. LOVE!

I ordered this bowl wanton noodles one night while waiting for my brother.
I absolutely hate it that they don't have decent chili there.

Mystery ingredient in my drink.

Sometimes, it's nice to go there later in the night when it's quiet.

Peace and quiet is somewhat of a rarity in the bustling city.
I like to enjoy it when I can!

Heart2Heart Vet Hospital

My dog, Summer, recently was taken to the vet because she was not eating and seemed listless. Unfortunately, I was overseas at that time and my mum was the one that sent her in. Summer usually goes to the Animal Recovery Centre at Balestier. This time however, my mum send her to  Heart2Heart Vet hospital. I was worried sick as I couldn't be around. Luckily, I was scheduled to be back in Singapore 2 days after she was admitted.

She had x-rays done and initial, the doctors thought that her uterus was swollen and that she might have to get it removed. And when they did the operation, they found it was just a piece of corn cob that somehow got stuck in her intestines and was badly bruising it as it tried to move along the gestational tract.

Her doctor-in-charge was Dr Cheryl and she was really helpful throughout. The staff of this vet hospital were always helpful and polite. They would call and inform us if there were any updates, no matter how trivial. She was in good hands! Thank goodness.

I have had unpleasant vet visits, mainly vets at the Serangoon North area. ARC was good but the waiting time there at times was simply crazy. At least she's is home now :)

You probably can't tell this is a piece of corn cob.

Mid week coffee break

Met one of my close friend, Jeslyn, for a bout of shopping and some caffiene loving.

Had my usual vanilla latte while she had an cookies & creme frap.

These are among some of the figurines I have displayed in my room.
Alice in Wonderland has always been a favorite book.

And I brought back these 2 seals from my latest Guangzhou trip.
They flash different colors of the rainbow when they are squeezed!
Utter cuteness!

Oh, Sigmund Freud. You're spot on.

"They long to be with the person they love but refuse to admit openly.
Some are afraid to show even the slightest sign of affection because of fear.
Fear that their feelings may not be recognized, or even worse, returned.
But one thing about human beings puzzles me the most is their conscious effort to be connected with the object of their affection,
even if it kills them slowly within."
