Thye Hong Casual Cafe Steamboat Hotpot

Met my dear friend Kristen for dinner yesterday. We initially were thinking of finding a place inside of Bugis Junction for dinner. It was raining yesterday and we decided it was perfect to go have steamboat!

We went over Liang Seah Street to look for a place to have steamboat! Where else, haha. I usually eat steamboat at Xian De Lai 鲜得来or to the one facing Shaw Towers. Kristen said she usually has steamboat at this place called Thye Hong, so I decided to give this place a try! It was $17 nett for dinner, inclusive of drinks (lime juice/barley) and fruits. Pretty good price I would say. We were there pretty early, about 6.30pm and the place was still quite empty. By 7.30pm, most of the tables had been occupied by diners.  Sorry if the pictures are a little subpar as they were taken by my blackberry.

Food's pretty neatly laid out. Mostly standard steamboat fare.
Condiments. My combo is chilli padi + chopped garlic + soya sauce.
So what's your steamboat secret sauce combo?
Do you see instant noodles? Does anyone really eat that?
Looking at the pictures, I think I didn't eat a wide variety of stuff.
I just kept taking the same items over and over.
Like the cooked food below. I didn't even try.
I like to eat cooked dishes with rice.
And when I go for steamboats, no rice for me please!
I load up on seafood, beef and golden mushrooms.
And that's about it. Haha.
I heard the staff tell another customer that this was black pepper chicken.
This is erm... fried chicken?
I'm guessing tofu with dried chilli for this!
Scallops! I did not take these. WHY???
Crabs. Oh yeah. I had these. They're the small type but they were fresh.
This were the first items I grabbed. The crab sticks were like faux snow crab.
Much nicer that the usual crab sticks. I made Kristen try some and she liked it!
The fruit tray. Erm, I didn't eat any fruits also. Oops.

Just in case you are thinking of trying this place out, the address is 32 Liang Seah Street. For 17 bucks, it was a pretty decent meal. And no need to spend extra money on drinks too. Maybe I should go back again soon!

瑞春点心餐厅 SWEE CHOON Tim Sum Restaurant

Met the girls on Friday for some dim sum!
We went to Swee Choon to fill our growling tummies
and then headed to Mustafa for some late night shopping :)
Pauline ordered these custard buns that looked like, pumpkins?
I found them rather festive looking.
But the taste is nothing to shout about.
Give me 流沙包 anytime over this!
We love Xiao Long Bao (小笼包)
Probably one of Shanghai's most famous food.
I like to have mine with loads of ginger slices. Yum!

Sichuan Oil Chilli Wanton.
Another favorite item we always order is this red bean paste pancake.
The deep friend tofu with Thai chilli sauce was a hit around the table.
I don't eat tofu but I ate the onions. Very tasty.
Crispy Pork Chop.
Prawn and Banana Fritter
Standard dim sum fare .... har gow!
I can't really remember the name of this dish.
Pork floss was encased in an omelette which was then
encased in pastry with loads of sesame seed toppings.

If you're thinking of going there to eat, here's the address:
185/187/189/191 Jalan Besar Singapore 208882
Tel: 62257788

They're open after 6pm only and closed on Tuesdays!

Hello Weather, make up your mind!

The weather has been really indecisive recently.
One moment, it's scorching hot.
The next moment, the skies are dark with imminent rain.
So, how does one dress, with the weather so fickle?

I love candy

I love candy.
I especially love the green ones.
Once, I ate too much of this candy at one go
and I think the citric acid in it gave my tongue a "burn".

Visiting Lorong Halus a.k.a. Pasir Ris Dog Farm!

I visited the dog farms at Lorong Halus with Christina recently.
It's not a place to go if no one is driving.
Lots of puppies to see. Cuteness overload.

Doesn't this puppy have a super mischievous face?

I love Frenchies!
The shop quoted me 5k for this 7 month old Frenchie.
Expensive!

We met this dog while parking the car.
He was super friendly and came up to us and "escorted" us around.

:)

After that we popped by one of the animal shelters there.
It was a really really hot day and the shelter had a big tub of water.
And some of the dogs knew how to go in and sit inside to cool themselves off!

We're planning to go again next week as I need to get food for my dogs and cat!
